Iris and Arce were twin sisters, also elder sisters of the harpies. The whole family was made of wind goddesses that could fly very fast, so Iris and Arce became messengers of the gods.
During the Titan Wars, Iris decided to join the side of Zeus and the Olympians as their messenger, while Arce became messenger of the Titans. After the defeat of the Titans, Arce was thrown into the under world ofTartarus with them, and her wings were plocked by Zeus to make sure she could not escape and cause trouble. Volcanoes were believed to be the place where the titans had been buried.
